Soul Retrieval Shadow Work & Somatic Mapping
Where Did You Leave Yourself?
Your lost pieces don’t just vanish into the abyss. They don’t dissolve, disappear, or cease to exist. They linger—hidden in your subconscious, embedded in your patterns, woven into the fibers of your body. They show up in moments where you hesitate instead of act, silence yourself instead of speak, numb out instead of feel.
That flinch before setting a boundary? A fragment left behind.
That lump in your throat when you try to speak your truth? A voice buried in the past.
That heaviness in your chest when you even think about taking up space? A version of you, still waiting to be reclaimed.
This is where soul retrieval and shadow work intersect—through the deep excavation of what was lost, mapping where it lives in your body, and calling it back home.
Shadow Work Prompts for Soul Retrieval
Think back to a time when you feel like you lost yourself.
What was happening in that moment?
What did you need?
What did you believe you had to do to survive?
What emotions, dreams, or parts of you got left behind in that moment?
Did you stop singing, speaking, standing up for yourself, believing in love, trusting yourself?
What did you give up to stay safe?
If that version of you could speak, what would they say?
Are they angry? Hurt? Confused?
Do they even realize they’ve been waiting for you all this time?
Write these down. Let yourself listen.
Your Body Holds the Map – Deep Somatic Mapping Exercise
Soul retrieval isn’t just mental—it’s physical. Every lost part of you has a home in your body. You can find it.
Step One: Create Sacred Space
Find a quiet, safe place where you won’t be disturbed. This is a ritual of reclamation, so if it feels right, light a candle, place a protective crystal nearby, or hold something that makes you feel grounded.
Step Two: Deep Presence
Close your eyes and take ten deep, slow breaths, feeling your body settle into the space.
Imagine your awareness sinking into your body, rather than floating in your thoughts.
Step Three: Somatic Scanning
Begin at the top of your head and slowly scan downward. Move through your face, throat, chest, belly, hips, legs, feet.
As you scan, pay attention to where you feel something different—tension, tightness, numbness, warmth, pulsing, or even a sharp pain.
When you find a sensation that stands out, pause there.
Step Four: Asking the Body
Place your hands gently over that area and breathe into it. Then, ask:
What are you holding here?
Is there a memory, an image, or an emotion stored in this place?
What version of me still lives here?
Let whatever arises come naturally. You may get flashes of a past event, hear a phrase in your mind, or just feel an unnameable weight. Trust it.
Step Five: Energetic Retrieval
Once you’ve connected with the sensation, breathe into it deeply.
Imagine drawing your lost energy back in with each inhale—like invisible threads, cords, or wisps of light pulling back into your core.
If it feels right, whisper:
"I call back all parts of me, from people, places, situations, and things. I reclaim myself."Stay here as long as you need. Let your body soften. Let what was lost return.
Step Six: Integration
When you feel ready, journal your experience. Write down what you felt, where in your body you felt it, and what surfaced.
Reflect: What does this part of me need to feel safe coming home?
You may want to follow up with movement (shaking, stretching, dancing), water (a cleansing bath, shower, or simply drinking with intention), or a grounding ritual to fully integrate the experience.
Your lost parts are waiting for you. Not in the past. Not outside of you. But within.
In the next post, we’ll explore where our energy gets trapped in relationships, places, and past wounds—so we can call it back, piece by piece, breath by breath.
